2024 — Measured and rated 55 short courses for official score-posting in conjunction with the WHS revisions

2017 — Merged with Women’s Southern California Golf Association

2023 — Reached 200,000 memberships
  • 1919 — SCGA had 18 clubs with 1,371 members.
  • 1925 — Membership totaled 20,000 via 45 clubs
  • 1964 —Established an electronic format to calculate member handicaps
  • 1965 — Handicap became a mandatory element of membership
  • 1971—Merged with the San Diego County Golf Association
    • 21 new clubs joined the SCGA, association had 180 member clubs with 51,000 individual members
  • 1979 — SCGA established the affiliate club program, allowing clubs to be formed without ties to a course
  • 1989 — Inclusion of Slope Rating™ as part of handicap procedure
  • 1993 — Established Delegate program
  • 1994 — SCGA completed work with all golf clubs to have computers installed at every course and linked to the SCGA
  • 1997 — Worked with the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA) to form a national score posting network.
  • 2010 — Switch to Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN)
  • 2011 — Merged with Public Links GA
  • 2011 — Launched type 3 clubs in Southern California region
  • 2015 — Created digital portal for clubs to handle membership dues online
  • 2017 — Launched Associate Member Network, a direct-to-consumer membership matching SCGA members with local golf clubs
  • 2018 – Merged with Desert Women’s Golf Association, Women’s Public Links Golf Association and San Diego County Women’s Golf Association
