The SCGA played a crucial role in opposing this bill and ultimately defeating it, highlighting the importance of golf courses in California communities and their role not only as recreational spaces but also as significant contributors to the state's economy.
  • 1930s – SCGA took the regional lead in aligning the golf community behind more efficient and affordable irrigation practices.
  • 1960 — Supported initiative to insulate urban green spaces from onerous taxation that would have condemned them to development.
  • 2006 – Founding member of the California Alliance for Golf, serving as an educational resource for the industry and to communicate to the public the economic benefits and environmental stewardship provided by the game of golf.
