• Feed their competitive instincts and feed the game's growth

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• You can play really hard and have fun for a lifetime no matter how well you do

• Feeling of equity when I lose money to my friends

Do you volunteer elsewhere (inside or outside of golf)?

• Not any more since the SCGA became my passion, my purpose

• Rule 20.3: If a situation arises that is not covered by the rules the Committee should take a wild guess (or do what's fair and reasonable)

• My brother, my daughter and Thomas Jefferson

• Goose Creek (18th and 19th)

Besides golf, what is your favorite hobby?

• Domestic travel, fantasy sports and birding

• Love for the game of golf and inspiration from the SCGA staff.

• Support the variety of incredible efforts to make the game better for all!

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• Golf can take you places and introduce you to people that you never could have imagined.

Favorite benefit of keeping a Handicap Index:

• Having a system to blame when I lose money to my buddies

• Youth baseball

• Slow play enforcement

• My grandfather, my father, and my brother (and my sons tagging along)

• There are things to do other than golf??

• To give back to a game that has been so good to my family and me.

Why should Southland golfers join the SCGA?

• Friendships, Friendships, Friendships, play golf and compete if it's your cup of tea!

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• No need to call a friend like in other sports. You can go solo or with friends/team.

Favorite benefit of keeping a Handicap Index:

• It allows me to chase a lower handicap index. Built in motivator to improve!

Do you volunteer elsewhere (inside or outside of golf)?

• PGA of America committee member, USGA, PGA and LPGA championships.

• Being a Grandpa!

• Create ways for more people to enjoy the game and all of its benefits.

Why should Southland golfers join the SCGA?

• SCGA give everyone multiple paths to help enjoy the game.

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• This is a game you can play your entire life. You will meet great people and spend your time outdoors whether playing the game recreationally or competitively.

Favorite benefit of keeping a Handicap Index:

• You can play a competitive match with someone of a different skill level.

Do you volunteer elsewhere (inside or outside of golf)?

• SCGA Jr Foundation and a walking scorer at multiple USGA, PGA, LPGA and Champions tour events.

• Play it as you find it!!!

• Ben Crenshaw, Francis Ouimet and Tiger Woods

• Tie - there are lots of stories at all of them

• Traveling!

• A commitment to growing the game.

Why should Southland golfers join the SCGA?

• Initially to establish their Handicap Index and thereafter it’s an opportunity to participate in many different types of events, programs, etc.

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• After the round they can have a treat (i.e., ice cream, candy, soda pop, etc.)

Favorite benefit of keeping a Handicap Index:

• You can have a match and play against anyone regardless of skill level.

• Century Club of San Diego & President of The Farms Golf Club

• Love of the game and the desire to help the Association grow its membership and impact

• It is the best way to protect, sustain and grow golf in SoCal.

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• Golf is a powerful way to understand yourself and to advance your career.

• To compete against your friends and to participate in tournament.

Do you volunteer elsewhere (inside or outside of golf)?

• I serve on a variety of boards including MLK Community Hospital Foundation and the Japanese American National Museum.

• The Old Clubhouse at Scotland's Gullane Golf Club--The fish and chips best ever!

• I love to cook. I make my own pizza dough and keep "pizza diaries" to document what works and what doesn't.

• Compassion to expand the game to underserved communities

Why should Southland golfers join the SCGA?

• SCGA is a robust association that exist to serve the golf community and to improve the game. There is strength in numbers and collective ideas.

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• Golf is a lifetime sport that builds character, work ethic and self determination. The golf experience exemplifies and prepares juniors for the challenges of life.

Profession:  Business owner. My brother, sister and I are the third-generation owners of our family’s landscape supply company.

What compelled you to serve on the SCGA Board?

• I have been involved with the SCGA for over 45 years. First as a player and later as a volunteer. I have seen how the staff and volunteers have serviced the So Cal golf community. I was extremely honored when I was asked to help lead the organization.

Why should Southland golfers join the SCGA?

• I think most golfers associate the SCGA with the wonderful championships they run. But we provide so much more, even if you aren’t a tournament player. Handicapping, member outings, travel and equipment deals.

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• Golf is a game that lasts a lifetime. It will teach you lessons that you will use in all aspects of your life.

Favorite benefit of keeping a Handicap Index:

• Always being able to fairly compete against another player.

Do you volunteer elsewhere (inside or outside of golf)?

• Not recently. Business and the SCGA keep me plenty busy.

How long have you played golf?

• 47 years

Favorite Rule of Golf?

• Not one specific rule but the concept that the rules always the player to use their best judgment regarding where to drop a ball, even if it is later discovered to be incorrect. Keeps play moving and relieves doubt for the player.

If you could play golf with three people (dead or alive), who would they be?

• My father one more time, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods

• The Tap Room at Pebble Beach

Besides golf, what is your favorite hobby?

• Spending time on the water, usually a Duffy ride with my wife

• So many benefits; Handicap Index, Member Outings, FORE Magazine and much more

What would you tell juniors to interest them in the game of golf?

• It's a game of a lifetime, it's a great way to meet people, and it is endlessly challenging.

Favorite benefit of keeping a Handicap Index:

• Allows me to compete against other golfers of differing abilities.

• I do course rating work for the SCGA

• Exercise (closing my fitness rings each day on my Apple watch!)
