1899 Founded 600
July 29, 1989 - SCGA Founded by Five Clubs - Representatives from five clubs (Riverside Polo & Golf Club, Redlands CC, Pasadena CC, Santa Monica Golf Club and The Los Angeles CC) met to draft a constitution and bylaws. Only two clubs (LACC and Redlands CC) remain active today. Charles E. Maud of Riverside was elected as the first president of SCGA.

1968 - Launched FORE Magazine as the Association's official publication

2016 — Launched FORE Her, a monthly digital newsletter written by women, for women and about women

2023 — Launched SoCal Golf Hall of Fame, partnering with SoCal PGA to create one unified, regional Hall of Fame
  • 1934 — SCGA established its first office and hired its first employee a few years later
  • 1969 — SCGA relocated from downtown LA to “Golf House West” in Studio City, which housed all Southern California golf governing bodies
  • 1994 — Purchased Rancho California GC, renaming it to The SCGA Members’ Club at Rancho California
  • 1996 — Created the Directory of Golf, an annual hard copy digest co-sponsored by the SoCal PGA section
  • 2002 — Launched website, one of the first regional AGA's to do so
  • 2008 — Established SCGA Hall of Fame
  • 2010 — Sold The SCGA Members’ Club at Rancho California to focus on broader programming and services
  • 2009 — Conducted its first out-of-market Member Outing, providing a comprehensive playing experience at some of the country’s most iconic golf destinations.
  • 2023 — Co-created (with SoCal PGA section) SoCal Golf Hall of Fame. Click here to visit site.
